I have items in excess of 100 years old that are Perfect, like the day they were finished. ‘For it’s age’ or any other Qualifier,’ it’s a ‘Weasel Clause’ and the seller should be called on it and a clear defined appraisal of the items condition should be given by the seller. GRADING “MINT” Mint means the item is perfect, without Cosmetic or Functional issue. There isn’t anything beyond “Mint” ie, ‘Mint +. There can be lesser degrees of Mint. “ Mint – or Mint Minus “New” New means it has never been sold retail. There are “New” products that do not qualify as “Mint” Mint- (Near mint and LN Mint – A slight cosmetic flaw that precludes an item from being “Mint” M/R (Mint Restored-Refinished –Part or Whole) Mint Restored an item has been brought up to Mint Condition by Full or Part Restoration Ex+ (Excellent plus) Excellent + will demonstrate some signs of use / wear (no damage) Ex (Excellent) Excellent will demonstrate definite signs of use and or wear. (no damage) Ex- (Excellent minus) Excellent – will demonstrate use, wear possibly some damage that doesn’t effect use. VG+ (Very Good plus) Very Good Plus; An item that has been well used and in good working and cosmetic condition. The item will demonstrate scratches, muffs, mars, plastic crazing. Conditions caused by use, elements and time. VG (Very Good) Very Good will demonstrates a significant amount of scratches, muffs, mars, plastic or finish crazing, small dents or dings. Some minor functions may not work or work properly. VG- (Very Good Minus) Very Good Minus will demonstrate a degree of wear and damage. The item has realized the better part of it’s usefulness. Good Good will demonstrate an item that can serve most of it’s intended duties yet have various function inoperable, while looking very lack luster.
