These are hard-copy lessons, double-sided, laser printed in black & white and stapled. The "LinuxCNC on the Sherline Mill Quick Start Student Lessons 1-4" teach use of the software on a configured milling machine.  These lessons DO NOT teach Milling Machine Operation or Safety.  They also DO NOT cover software configuration or setup. These instructions will not help you configure or setup your milling machine.  While these lessons focus on the use of a CNC Sherline Mill in an introductory class, the information is easily applicable to larger mills using LinuxCNC control.  These lessons are to be used in gaining familiarity with the LinuxCNC control software and should only be used by individuals already trained in Milling Machine operation or under the supervision of a qualified instructor.  Tools used in these lessons include the Fly-Cutter, a Precision Square and Centerdrill.  Anyone attempting to use the machinery and tools described in these lessons does so at their own risk. These LinuxCNC lessons lead you through the basic step-by-step process of Squaring and Centerdrilling a standard block in preparation for drilling.  The 4 lessons include 7 pages with 12 pictures.  As an instructor in the Industry and Technology department of a local community college, I have created, used and improved these lessons in class with beginning students.  Other instructors have used these lessons in their own classes.  You could spend a few hours searching for something free on the internet.  I've done that myself but couldn't find anything as complete/easy and as good for beginners as what I wrote for the students in my classes.  Most students make it through the 4 lessons in under 3 hours.  These lessons will cost you $12 for a package that leads you through the basics in 56 steps. Lesson 1: Jogging and Squaring Lesson 2: Setting Home and Part Zero and MDI G-Code Check Lesson 3: Creating a LinuxCNC G-Code Program Lesson 4: Proofing and Running a CNC G-Code Program
