NICE ITEM! This is a Ludlum model 2 with a 44-9 pancake probe and a calibrated on board check source. Ready to use right out of the box! The 44-9 probe is an extremely sensitive probe designed for detection of most gammas, alphas and beta particles from radioactive materials. The 44-9 probe is the standard used by professionals for frisking because it is comfortable to use and yet extremely sensitive. It is a good contamination survey meter as it is. This would be the best one for doomsday preppers to check stuff for actual realistic levels of contamination. The test source will have an accurate calibration value for this type of probe for the lifetime of the instrument due to it's long half life.
