NICE ITEM! Ready to use right out of the box! This is a Ludlum model 3 with a 44-3 scintillation probe in calibration, and includes a long lifetime on board check source. The 44-3 gamma probe is an extremely sensitive probe designed for detection of low energy gammas say from Pu 239 or americium 241, while still good at detecting stronger more common sources. It is an excellent contamination survey meter as it is. It even detects medium to hard betas. Excellent for contamination frisking! Due to the extreme sensitivity and that the probe is quite rugged, this would be one of the best ones for doomsday preppers to check stuff for actual contamination if TSHTF. The test source on the unit will have an accurate calibration value for this type of probe for the lifetime of the instrument due to it's long half life.
