Simply choose the configuration optimized for Horizontal or Vertical mount sockets, plug it in like any 2 pin lamp, and enjoy the superior light quality and energy savings - no need to remove the CFL ballast or retrofit the fixture. Efficient 13W lamp offers more than 50% energy savings. The lamp is compatible with 26W, 32W & 42W CFL sockets, making it easy to save even more energy. *The Helen Lamp is only suitable for use with electronic non-dimming ballasts, supporting a 2-pin CFL. Please see installation guide, FAQ, and spec sheet for additional information. Are there applications where the Helen Lamp may be incompatible? Lunera Lighting desires customers to experience the great attributes of the Helen Lamp. Thus, please consider the following INCOMPATIBLE Applications for the Helen Lamp: - Older Ballasts... during testing and initial installation, we have found that some ballasts manufactured in 2003 and earlier may be incompatible with the Helen Lamp. Installation may produce lamp flicker or strobe. To mitigate observed incompatibility, we recommend updating any incompatible older ballasts to a currently available brand name model like Hatch, Philips Advance, or Universal Triad. - Sylvania & Iota Ballasts... some ballast brands have been found to be incompatible with the Helen Lamp. This includes some Sylvania models and Iota Emergency Ballasts, operating in emergency battery mode. Installation of the Helen Lamp in incompatible ballasts may result in lamp flicker, strobe, or failure. - Dimming... the Helen Lamp is incompatible with dimming ballasts. This includes installed dimming ballasts not connected to dimming controls. Installed lamps in dimming ballasts may flicker, strobe, or fail and thus should be avoided. - Recessed Downlight with Lens Cover... enclosed downlights prevent air from circulating adequately across the Helen Lamp, reducing heat dissipation. Thus, installation should be avoided. - Decorative Fixtures... decorative fixtures like pendants and sconces may restrict airflow across the Helen Lamp, reducing heat dissipation. Thus, installation should be avoided. - Non Specified Lamp Types... the Helen Lamp is only compatible when replacing 26W, 32W, and 42W 2-pin CFL lamps and is incompatible when replacing lamps under 26W and 2-pin CFL applications. Such applications have not been tested and should be avoided.
