It features tough aluminum oxide grain coated on an "X" weight polyester backing with a resin bond system. The aluminum oxide grain provides exceptional toughness and high penetration for tough materials without excessive shedding or fracturing. This sanding belt is very well-suited for grinding high tensile strength materials such as carbon steels, alloy steels, tough bronze, and hard woods. The open coat abrasive grain coverage of approximately 50% - 60% offers greater flexibility, faster cutting, coarser finish and provides greater resistance to loading.
