Massa Ultra-Sonic Transducers These were one of many acquisitions from an electronics surplus outlet many years ago. I am streamlining my 'stash' and these must go, along with much more. Here is all I know about these units - They are part of a 3M Company ultrasonic alarm offering from the early 1970s, The alarm unit was an ultrasonic transceiver, using two transducers, one to transmit, one to receive. When a phase shift was detected in the returned echo, an alarm condition was set, There are 99 transducers in the tray, Some are marked with colored dots, most have a three digit number stamped on them. I don't know what these markings mean. Many have another number scratched on the case and it looks like my scratching. I don't remember what these numbers mean, either, but, I would guess it has to do with the actual frequency of the unit under test conditions as measured in a working alarm unit, I don't know the operational status, but, I assume most are NOS. The package includes the transducers and many rubber grommets for mounting them. Back in the day (mid 1970s), I lived/worked very near the 3M electronics surplus outlet in St. Paul. I would spend many lunch hours there, buying stuff that I thought was very cool at the time. Most of it has sat in boxes, unmolested for over thirty years. Ask me about my inventory of 3M voltage regulator and siren module boards, also, part of the motion detector offering. Experience and age has brought a certain amount of wisdom. I have learned that it's imprudent for an electronics pack rat to live/work that near an electronics surplus outlet! Feel free to contact me if you have questions. Bid early, bid often!!!
