 Very nice high quality level, overall length: 27".  Chassis was fully stripped and powder coated.  Level vial was removed, cleaned, the index marks have been re-painted and the vial was re-installed with a high contrast background.  There is an etching on the vial that lists its accuracy as 4.2 seconds of arc which equates to .00023" of rise per 10" of length.  Most of the original hand scraping on the base is still visible. Cast iron this old is very stable, and a new freshly scraped base will last for decades and will make the level very useful as a precision straightedge. Note that I have not scraped the base, it is for sale as is and as shown in the pictures.   If the purchaser wished I will scrape the base to a grade B surface plate giving an overall accuracy of better that .0001" over the entire length. The cost will be negotiated upon sale of the level.
