THE gm PERCENTAGES IN THE TABLE ARE FROM THE B&K 747B I USED FOR NORMAL TESTING. Here is a pair of the finest JAPANESE 6dj8's made. These tubes were made at the end of the vintage era. I think it is better to buy any manufactured goods that were made at the end of of the run. Here is why: After a product is first made there are problems and bugs. As time goes by those bugs are worked out and the product gets refined. The end products are inevitably better than the first. My dad worked at GM for decades and he always told me not to buy the first year run of any model for that very reason. These particular tubes are among the last to be made in Japan and have the advantage of being the pinnacle of the line. Sonically they are AWESOME! I listened to them for hours, Led Zep, Pavarotti, Tony Bennett, Barry white. These tubes deliver the goods. I compare them to O getter Orange Globes. Very whispey Highs. The warm homey mids. Bass is fat and sweet. Absolutely no microphonics! This is a Matsushita vacuum tube/tubes made for Mullard/Amperex in Matsushita Japan. After WWII tube manufacturers in Europe and the US shipped their tube making equipment to Japan to take advantage of the lower labor costs. Amperex, Mullard, and Raytheon made millions of tubes in Japan. These tubes were made on the same equipment with the same materials, and the same construction methods used to make the Mullards and Bugleboys that we love so much. These tube have the same quality and the same excellent tone, and longevity as the Europens and American made tubes. Vintage tube testers almost always, due to age, have VERY LOW HEATER VOLTAGES!!! Every tester I have ever bought is below 6 volts when selecting 6.3 volts. They average 5.8 volts. The voltage NEEDS to be 6.3 and 12.6. You can calibrate a vintage tube tester all you want. If the heater voltage is not right, you will NEVER get the right gm value. I have customers complain that their tubes are not the same as what I see on my tester. They say they have a calibrated tube tester. I have 40 tube testers. On all of them I have an outside regulated DC power supply that feeds the tube tester the correct heater voltage. International customers note: 1.
