McCormick Deering model M fuel pump? [looks like the ones I have found on ebay etc.] Selling for a friend who told me it is an oil pump however looks exactly like the fuel pumps that have sold here. The string in the pictures was tied on, by my friend, to keep plunger from coming all the way out so I did not remove it. The plunger is spring loaded and has a stroke of approx. 1 inch. Both ends are plugged. The larger hole measures 7/16 inches, the smaller hole is 5/16 inches, and they are about 2 and 1/8 inches apart. No visible cracks breaks or welds. Received the following message : "Can you see a part number cast into the housing near the two holes? It might be something like 9645, or 9745. From the measurements it is probably 9745, making it a fuel pump for a 3hp International Haverster/ McCormick Deering M engine. If it is 9645 it will be for a 1 1/2 hp. Is the housing Cast Iron, or Pot Metal? If it's Pot Metal it will be an original pump. Cast Iron will probably be a reproduction made by Hit n Miss Enterprises." My response to above message: So there is a round marking of some kind between the 2 holes however I can not make out what it says because it has been painted over in black. My husband states that he believes it is pot metal-- it doesn't seem heavy enough for cast and under the paint it is gray All our items are used, and we do our best to describe any damage.
