Each 10' (3 m) test lead has a test clip for hands-free connection to a conductor. Silicone insulation on the lead wires and test clips helps protect hands from shock and heat, resists melting or becoming brittle in hot or cold environments, and maintains flexibility better than PVC insulation. The test leads lock into the input jacks on the meter to help ensure a secure connection and reduce risk of shock. The test clips have a 1.3" (34 mm) jaw opening. They meet International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) safety standard 61010 and are certified for use with category IV installations up to 600V, which covers measurements at the source of the low-voltage supply, such as electricity meters and overcurrent protection devices. The insulated leads are rated for a maximum input of 12 kV of DC voltage.
