To operate the MESR100 V2, press and hold the ON/OFF button for 2 to 3 seconds to power on. Press and release the RANGE button to switch modes from auto to manual and scroll the manual range from 1, 10, and 100R range. Short circuit the test leads' terminal and press and release the "ZERO" button to zero out the meter. The LCD backlight turns on during power on, and it will shut down automatically after ten hours of inactivity to save power. If the value is out of range, it will display overflow or OL, indicating a need to double-check if zeroing was done correctly. ESR TABLE is also available for reference, although bad MESR100 V2 is an improved version of MESR100 V1. It offers a higher resolution of up to 0.001 ohm, a 128X64 dot matrix LCD with a larger value display and information, and an embedded 25V capacitor table at LCD, which shows whether the capacitor is good or bad reference to a common 25V electrolytic capacitor. ESR, or the series resistor inside a capacitor, can be measured using the MESR-100 V2. Since a bad E-capacitor has a higher ESR, it creates large ripple rather than filtering noise. The theory behind the device allows it to measure whether a capacitor is in good or bad condition. This ESR meter can apply up to 15mV DC or peak to peak on a good capacitor, enabling in-circuit testing without turning on the semiconductor inside a circuit. Repairing TV, LCD, Audio board would be made easier using MESR-100 V2 in circuit testing.
