The magnetic reading of the unit not only ignores any signature intrusion over the MICR data, but also disregards intentional alteration of the bottom line information. The MICRmatic 3000 will read either E13B MICR characters or CMC-7 magnetic characters. The MICRmatic 3000 has an automated transport to maintain a constant speed for an efficient read, eliminating operator idle time created by keying or scanning a check manually. The check is inserted and returned through the same slot in less than one second, eliminating hand movement. The check is read twice, first as it is fed into the transport and again as it is returned. This double read greatly reduces substitutions and rejects, thus providing excellent performance. Audible and visual indicators signal to the user the outcome of the scan. The entire MICR line of a check is captured quickly, increasing productivity at the point of sale or teller terminal for check processing or verification. This diminishes the time spent in line, saving time and increasing customer satisfaction. The MICR data may consist of the issuing bank’s routing transit number, an account number, the check number and the encoded check amount. This captured data can be transmitted to the in house positive or negative database for quicker authorization or processing. This flexible solution to manual data entry provides an easy, economical method to read checks and to transmit the data to a host. The integrated magnetic stripe reading option provides additional capability to read credit cards while saving critical counter space.
