It uses the same optimized steel body, bearings and leadscrew of the UTM stages, but features a number of mechanical improvements and a completely new motor configuration. The UE-71-20-PP is a cost-effective solution forless demanding applications. When used with our XPS, ESP300, or SMC100PPcontrollers with high micro-stepping capability, low-noise operation and verysmall incremental motions over the 20 mm travel range are guaranteed. Thestepper motor versions do not use encoders, instead, position is attained by thenumber of commanded steps and micro-steps. The stepper motor is directlyattached to the lead screw with a proprietary bellow coupling with high-torsionstiffness and no gear or belt drive in between. The high output torque of thestepper motor also minimizes the risk of lost steps and provides optimum motionsensitivity with good linearity between commanded micro-steps and the actualmotion of the stage. It features all-steel construction with preloaded linearball bearing slides. Smooth motion is provided by a diamond-corrected lead screwand a matched, precision lapped nut to ensure high position stability with highvertical load capacity. The nut includes anti-backlash preloading and asophisticated decoupling system that prevents lead screw eccentricity errorsfrom affecting stage movement.
