Up for auction we have a Milex brand stainless steel Guttman type vaginal speculum. The blade measures 1 3/8" wide and 4" long. This could be used for exams, as its lack of an upper blade allows better visualization of the anterior surface of the vagina. I believe that it is more commonly used for procedures such as surgery or IVF where it is necessary to see better and/or be able to use other instruments inside it. The bends in the upper parts make it self-retaining once opened and locked into place. It is in good working order. I wrapped the blade and upper parts with cloth to show how it opens and how large it opens. I am not a doctor and not an expert.
