Description: Model PCM4 accepts a grounded or floating dc signal and generates a proportional floating output voltage, adjustable within the range of -10V to +10V dc. This output can be supplied to the speed setting circuit of a motor controller to drive the motor at a speed proportional to the signal input. The output of the PCM4 always follows the sense of the input: it increases as the signal increases and it decreases as the signal decreases. The PCM4 also follows bipolar input voltage signals. This feature is particularly useful in regenerative drive applications. By tracking a bipolar input, the PCM4 can drive a regenerative control through the complete range of motor speeds in both forward and reverse directions. The PCM4 card is a compact and cost-effective solution for process control applications. Powered by 115 or 230 VAC, the PCM4 is used to isolate and condition incoming DC voltage signals from process controllers, motors, transducers, microprocessors or any signal. Typically, the output of the PCM4 connects to the input of a motor drive; hence, incompatible devices safely couple to yield a higher level of automation. Integrating this isolation card allows drives to follow any non-isolated external voltage or current analog process control signal. With the use of a high resolution multi-turn pot (not included), users can scale the output to within millivolts of the input or any desired proportion within the range of the output.
