With the Miniature Live Center's two bearings, it offers more stability and smaller runout than Sherline's standard aluminum live center. The bearings are self-lubricating and sealed, with an outer diameter of only 5/16" and an inner shaft diameter of 3/16". At a reasonable price, the Miniature Live Center is a smart and simple design that far outshines its bulkier aluminum counterparts. While the manufacturer does not offer any warranty for their products, they do accept returns in resalable condition within 14 calendar days for eBay sales, or 4 weeks for factory direct sales, with no questions asked. The Miniature Live Center from LatheCity is a must-have for watch makers and anyone working on model projects. The entire accessory has a length of approximately 2" with a maximum outer diameter of 1/2". The body is made of steel and the center pin is machined from tool steel, making it highly durable and long-lasting. The Morse #0 taper has a reduced length of 0.8" with no tang. However, they do NOT reimburse for shipping costs and other associated fees. This live center is designed specifically for lathe tailstocks, making it the perfect size for delicate work. Keep in mind that bearings are not designed to take large side forces, and no live center will be as rigid as a dead center pin. It was tested on a Sherline mini lathe and can reach speeds of up to 2800 RPM. Unlike other live centers, it doesn't generate much friction and doesn't require cutting oil.
