What is the Mistral filter system? The Mistral is a newly patented portable filtering system designed for compressed air systems commonly found in automotive repair shops, body shops, metal fabrication, home shops etc. It is designed to separate water and particles from compressed air and give the cleanest and driest possible air for spray painting, sandblasting, plasma cutting etc. In addition, this unit is fully portable and includes a toolbox for carrying common pneumatic tools needed around the shop or on the go. The unit can be wall mounted without any modifications. Simply unscrew the legs, drill 4 holes in the wall and you are ready to go! The included hose hooks can be mounted to the front or back and can be used to hang accessories such as blowguns etc. Other special hooks or brackets can easily be mounted such as spray gun holders etc.… This unit is very versatile and is made from quality steel. We have built 5 units so here is your chance to own this great tool only found here on Ebay. We have been using 2 prototypes under various conditions for the last 2 years and I will say this: we simply do not work without it! It does what it is supposed to as good if not better than units that are way more expensive. How does it work? The basic principle is quite simple: the compressed air enters the unit via the quick connect fitting and enters the serpentine. The first section of the serpentine contains a turbulator, a twisted piece of stainless steel that forces the air to hit the wall of the serpentine tube. Because steel is colder than the air, condensation will take place and the water vapors will turn into liquid water so the filters can separate them easily. We use very high quality Festo type filters with 40 and 5 micron elements. All fittings are made from brass and all steel elements of the unit have been either powder coated or zinc coated. Why should you invest in the Mistral filter? Clean and dry air is a must if you are painting, sandblasting, plasma cutting or using pneumatic tools. Moisture is very harmful to air tools, plasma nozzles, sandblasters etc., not to mention the possibility of "blushing" when spray painting. Additionally, the Mistral's portability is a definite advantage when working on location or using someone else's compressor because more often than not compressors are not properly equipped to fight moisture (I have been in that situation a few times doing spot repairs in workshops where the moisture in the line was really high and the Mistral saved the day!). Companies such as Devilbiss offer very efficient systems but they are much more expensive and require desiccant cartridges to be changed on a regular basis (not cheap) plus these units are not portable... For substantially less money you have a highly effective unit, versatile and portable! Try it and be certain the Mistral will be a great asset in your tool arsenal! Dimensions: 25,5 inches tall, 16,5 inches wide, 7,5 inches deep (without legs), legs are 11,5 inches. The serpentine represents approximately 14 feet of tubing and the inside diameter is 0.600 inches (15 millimeters). Because of this there is a very minimal amount of restriction caused by the serpentine so the unit can handle compressors outputting 50 CFM (that normally corresponds to 15HP compressors). Weight is approximately 8.5 kilos (18 pounds). Thank you for your interest. The Mistral team.
