The Storm 840 is field upgradeable to a Storm 860 by adding the capability for red-excited fluorescence. A photographic technique used to localize a radioactive substance within a solid specimen; also known as radioautography. A photographic emulsion is placed in contact with the object to be tested and is left for several hours, days, or as a core imaging technique. By offering autoradiography capability plus the two new non-radioactive techniques for gels and blots, the Storm system provides a powerful transition path for labs that are under pressure to reduce radioisotope radioisotope In addition to Storage phosphor autoradiography, Storm version 840 is configured with direct blue-excited fluorescence, provides the capacity to rapidly and quantitatively analyze patterns on two dimensional substrates such as Southern, Northern, dot and slot blots, CAT assays, and dried gels, a densitometer allows imaging of non-radioactive substrates, user friendly instrument allows hands-on analysis of sample directly by the investigator.
