STU-III is a family of secure telephones introduced in 1987 by the NSA for use by the United States government, its contractors, and its allies. STU-III desk units look much like typical office telephones, plug into a standard telephone wall jack and can either make encrypted calls to fellow STU-III desk units or any ordinary phone user (with such calls receiving no special protection, however).  Made for the consumer end of the market SECTEL 9600 was a secure telephone manufactured by Motorola in Seguin (Texas, USA). It uses Motorola's proprietary DVI encryption algorithm, which offers a high level of security. It is classified as an NSA Type 4 product [and was prohibited for export outside of US!]. Motorola's SECTEL product line provides worldwide voice/ data security through the telephone network. To an unauthorised listener, the terminals' transmissions are totally unintelligible. The SECTEL 9600 offers such convenient features as simultaneous voice and data transmissions in the secure mode, hands-free speakerphone, and two key management modes. So there you have it. If you've always wanted to feel like a character from "Homeland" or are just a little paranoid, this is the vintage Motorola phone for you. Dimensions Height: 10.4 cm(7.4 cm without handset) Width: 25.9 cm Depth: 23.8 cm Weight: 3.8 kg
