Quality Liquidators Moving Pixel Company IQAWG-A Arbitrary Waveform Generator ++ About the Item   The Moving Pixel Company IQAWG-A I/Q Arbitrary Waveform Generator   This auction is for a Moving Pixel Company IQAWG-A Arbitrary Waveform Generator.  This was purchased from a local lab in good working condition.  Comes as pictured with Control breakout cable and power cable, no software or manuals available.  This has the following options installed 64MB Flash, IF70 and BER.   Description: The I/Q Arbitrary Waveform Generator (IQAWG-A) is a versatile device for storing and playing out/looping arbitrary data streams to generate twin analog outputs, I and Q, for quadrature modulated systems. It adds the unique capability of adding Additive White Gaussian Noise (AWGN) to each output I and Q. The AWGN data is not stored with the IQ data but algorithmically generated in real-time. This keeps the noise from always hitting the same bit (what happens in a conventional AWG). The noise added to each channel is statistically independent. The noise is added digitally after all other stream generation functions and has a flat frequency spectrum (white). The noise source runs through the same DACs that produce the signal so that Eb/N0 is constant and does not require calibration for a given setup. The IQAWG has the further capability of combining both stored and algorithmically generated data. For example, if it was desired to generate a triangle wave with PN15 noise added, the IQAWG could produce the triangle and noise data algorithmically, using no internal storage of a waveform. This allows simple algorithms that do not repeat (in a short amount of time/memory) to be produced by the generator. The IQAWG was developed specifically for the production test environment. However, the accompanying PC software makes it very easy to use in an engineering environment. Design features driven by the production environment include: pattern storage in Flash memory (no reboot time), rear panel connectivity for signals and control, 19 inch rack mount, and very deep memory (up to 512 MB Flash, equivalent to 16 GB in most AWGs). This amount of memory translates into about 5 1/2 minutes of DSS video. Code modules that exist for the IQAWG include PN15, DSS (DirecTV) signal format, DVB signal format, ATSC signal format, DVB-S2 inclcuding ACM and Hierarchical modes, rate 1/2, 2/3, 3/4, 4/5, 5/6, 6/7, 7/8, 8/9, and rate 9/10 convolutional encoding, DSS/DVB interleaving, ATSC interleaving, FSK2, FSK3, FSK4, BPSK, QPSK, OQPSK, SQPSK, 8-VSB, 8-PSK, and QAM4-QAM256. The IQAWG-A also has the capability measuring the Bit Error Rate (BER) of a receiving unit under test. To test BER, a user simply sets the IQAWG to generate and modulate a PN stream then returns the demodulated data from the unit under test. The number of bits received is tabulated against the number of errors received over the same period and returned to the GUI for display. The interval for the test is specified via the GUI by the user. The IQAWG was designed to operate with the Rohde & Schward SMIQ signal generator; it will work with others. An optional (included with the product) PC-based GUI requires a Windows 98/NT/W2K/ME/XP PC with bidirectional printer port (EPP) capability. A .dll is also included for IQAWG control from within a user-control program.
