All of them are good for their own reasons. MyGeiger2 eliminates the design flaw related to DIY Geiger Kits, such as high current consumption and HV drop under radiation loads over 0.5mSv/h. MyGeiger2 consumes only 5mA during background measure (other kits can drawn more than 30-50mA at background); MyGeiger2 has a stable tube HV (other kits HV drop under real radiation fast counts down to 350V);  Easy to build: MyGeiger2 was tested with dose count up to 1000uSv/h (other kits has stability or logging issues during high speed count). The MyGeiger2 electrical circuit diagram was carefully crafted with an improved software algorithm resulting in a more professional and stable device with all the important portable dosimeter functions, but the kit is still kept easy to assemble. The few SMD components come installed on PCB, you only have to solder the DIP through hole parts. Tiny power consumption: MyGeiger2 has doubled its already reduced power consumption, now less than 5mA at background without backlight. At background it can continuously operate up to 200 hours using one 3.7V Li-PO 1000mAh. With one 3800mAh - 4200mAh Li-Ion it can operate up to 30 days continuously while monitoring background everyday. Built-in lithium charger: The device has built-in lithium charger with protection circuit which abolishes the need for special li-ion chargers. Indicator led will inform you about charge status. You can charge the kit’s battery directly from your computer or from any 5V power supply with USB jack. Another important new function is battery over-discharge limiter protection. When battery voltage goes below 3V, the device goes into sleep mode with about 0.5mA (500uA) power consumption. At this point you need to power off the kit and connect USB for charging. Powerful MCU: MyGeiger2 runs on a PIC18F2550 powerful microprocessor. With better performance and bigger memory compared to the first edition with PIC16F876.  New High Quality Graphic Display: MyGeiger1 used a Nokia 5110 LCD, but was discontinued. So we upgraded the display type to a higher quality and bigger graphic LCD with blue backlight but still managed to keep a tiny power consumption and the display is also readable in daylight without backlight.  Built-in USB support: MyGeiger2 comes with built-in USB for easy data to computer logging with FREE logging software. The kit can log CPM (counts per minute) or Bq/cm2 data every 5 seconds.  Logging Software: For CPM data you can use our freeware “Radiation Logger” Windows application or freeware RadMon application. For Bq/cm2 logging we supply link to download third-party UART terminal program, it also freeware and easy to use. Battery Indicator and USB connection detect: New edition has improved battery indicator and USB connection detection. Radiation Dose Units: MyGeiger2 can displays radiation dose in uSv/h, mSv/h or uRn/h, mRn/h units. You can switch between the units with “-“ tact button, make a short push once. The counter will remember your choice in eeprom memory. Accumulated dose in uSv units is also presented on LCD. Each time you power the dosimeter, a new accumulated dose count starts. Measuring Period: The dosimeter has moving average radiation counts with data updates every 5 seconds Auto Scaling CPM Graph: Keeps all cpm readings for the last 5 minutes in graphical representation. The graph is auto-scaling and auto-scrolling with nice Graphical Representation on the LCD. Maximum Radiation counting ability: Maximum radiation counting ability for geiger kit is correlated by 3 factors: software interrupt capability, high voltage stability and GM tube type. When talking about maximum radiation count, the common mistake is reporting only microprocessor counting ability. But it also important to take into consideration GM tube HV stability under maximum count load. MyGeiger2 was successfully tested under high radiation count load up to 1mSv/h (1000uSv/h) and during the test kit was showing stable HV within tube plateau limits. MyGeiger2 is intended for home and laboratory usage, testing radioactive samples or monitoring gamma radiation level.  Kit sound and Silent Operation: Kit has improved sound, close to the classic Geiger counter clicks. You can mute the buzzer and LED flasher by pressing “+” tact button for reducing power consumption and silent operation. Your settings are saved to eeprom memory. Alarm: You can set CPM alert value during device start-up. Your choice is written to eeprom memory for next usage. Alert is settable with 10 cpm steps from 10-200 and 100 cpm steps from 200-5000. When radiation levels becomes dangerous, the LCD backlight will be activated to inform you about high level and a alert piezo will also sound. However the audible alert can be turned on or off at startup just but switching the power to the left for OFF or to the right for ON.    Geiger Tube Compatibility: MyGeiger2 supports many 400V and 500V tubes. Default parameter pre-set is for SBM-20. There are several software settings you need to set in the calibration menu when using different tube models. However for this model, the tube is installed “Conversion Factor” used for conversion from CPM to uSv/h units. Default is 0.0057 "BG” maximum normal background CPM level for your tube, default is 30 “SQ” surface area of your tube in square centimeters units, default is 22 “DL” is detect limit, calculated by software from your BG and SQ parameters, you do not need to set this parameter. BG, SQ and DL used for calculating Bq/cm2. Becquerel logging actual for testing small size radioactive samples, that physical size is smaller than tube surface size. Becquerel mode is experimental function that currently we are not guarantee it has high precision results. Becquerel logging mode is not intended to measure background radiation.   To select tube voltage you need to set DIP Switch 1. Off position for 400V and On position for 500V. Then trim 2K potentiometer to the middle position. Power the kit and check voltage value on LCD. For 400V tubes it has to be between 400V-450V, and for 500V tubes between 500V-550V. If you read more or less then turn off the kit and trim 2K a little right or left. After check voltage again. Do not trim potentiometer when kit is powered! You need to find optimal settings for the potentiometer. Becquerel mode is experimental function that currently we are not guaranteeing its precision results. Terminal.exe is an excellent COM port freeware application with configurable connection settings and ability to create log files. You can use it for writing Becquerel logs data. Download and run Terminal.exe program. Pre-set counter for “Bq to UART” in kit’s calibration menu, press “+” for YES. Powering the Kit: This handmade, fully enclosed and finished, MyGeiger ver.2.00 includes (1) Lithium Ion 3.7V 2300mAh rechargeable battery. It is compatible with any brand as long as the voltage is the same, and the polarity is correct. It is recommended to use at least 800mAh or 1000mAh capacity, however a 3800mAh-4200mAh capacity battery will give you non stop background use for up to 30 days. Because the backlight functions as an visual alert for high level radiation, it can eventually drain the battery if constantly used in this situation, however the mini USB port can also power the unit with any 5V power supply such as car adapter or standard 5V wall chargers.  New Audible Alert System: New to this device is a switchable audio alert system. After setting the alert threshold amount at startup, and after reaching this threshold, along with the backlight alert, a piezo will sound. This option is controlled with the Units Power triple pole switch.
