Narishige Microforge MF-83 patch clamp micropipette Micro-Manipulator Includes Widefield WF.15x eyepieces and x4/0.10 and x33/0.45 Objectives Includes foot pedal as pictured. Microforge looks to be in excellent condition. The various slides and stages are in great condition. Smooth, easy movement. Optics are a little dusty. We didn't try to clean them, but I suspect the dust is from our own storage room where it's been on the shelf for a year or so. Looks like this piece was well-kept. Info on the MF-830, a newer model: This microforge is used to fire-polish micropipettes for patch clamp work. The microscope, which is built-in, allows the pipette tip to be viewed at a high magnification. The pipette tip is melted against the microforge filament coated with the same glass and the heat is adjusted. When the filament is turned off, the pipette is pulled back to get a microdiameter opening. Then the tip is polished close to the filament.
