"NATIONAL BRUSH DIGEST" is subtitled "A handy reference on the subject of Brushes and Commutation...." and is " "National" Brush Digest No. 15 (Trouble-Shooting Tables)".   It was published and copyrighted in 1954, 1955, 1956 and 1957 by Union Carbide and Carbon Corporation of New York, New York.  The introduction says this unique instructional endeavor especially for electrical maintenance men has met an enthusiastic response. The book is well illustrated with one or more two-color illustrations, some quite humorous and/or semi-photos on every page.  It is written to make the subject of trouble-shooting of brushes and commutators very easily understood. The pictures above show the actual cover, the Table of Contents page and eight double page copies.  The last few pages of the book are four Tables; Trouble Indications Appearing at Brushes, Appearing at Commutator Surface, Appearing as Heating and Primary Sources of Unsatisfactory Brush Performance.  There are no page numbers, 60 is my count.  I have the manual listed as a softcover but it is pretty heavy cardboard, it has no dust cover, a green plastic spiral binding, no ISBN, measures 6 by 9 by 1/4 inches and is about 60 pages long (no page numbers).  It also includes the original envelope that has a couple of markings. The book is from the library of the Inland Empire Railway Historical Society / Inland Northwest Rail Museum, a non-profit in Spokane and Reardan, Washington, who will receive all proceeds from this sale.  Free USPS media-mail shipping and tracking in the U.S.are included in the price.
