This is a NEC NEFAX 3EX Hi-Speed Fax Facsimile Transceiver & Answering Machine This fax machine still works ! even though it has been in storage for many years, except for an occasional use or two, a couple of years ago. A fax machine with built-in answering machine and automatic fax/telephone switching, and uses a single phone line for CCITT G3 and G2 fax communications. When I purchased it in late 1988 (for about $2000+), this fax machine was considered a top-of-the-line model. It was only used occasionally at my home office. This fax machine has many features, such as: - a built-in copier, automatic paper cutter, document feeder - one-touch dialing (for 5 numbers) and quick dial (for up to 45 numbers) - register 2 phone numbers for each one-touch/quick-dial key (one for voice & one for fax) - auto and manual redials, confidential transmission, remote broadcasting transmission - automatic contrast control and, 16 gray scale / halftone mode and fine mode - communication timer - to send at pre-selected time - polling and reverse polling transmissions - remote receiver control (with DTMF telephone) - built-in MDCC mode for fast transmissions (e.g. 15 seconds per page) - automatic size reduction (to match paper size of the receiving unit) - easy switching between voice and fax mode during a call - program the line to switch from manual to auto response mode at a pre-specified time each day. Included is a (used) Operations Manual and a missing (small) notch in the clear plastic receiving copy tray (to hold the rest firmly in place). Otherwise, this unit is in excellent condition. It comes with a plexiglass receiving tray (see picture) that still has on it, its protective masking sheet. Included with the roll of fax paper currently in the machine is a (new) roll of thermal fax paper. The red Wilson (sports) carrying case is included only for the asking Buy-It-Now price - see picture. Or you may add $10 to your winning bid price and the case will be shipped with the fax unit. You can use this fax machine ( i.e. it works !) , or keep it as a "vintage" collectible item. The item is sold AS IS. See pictures.
