ITEM NUMBER: 13852 MANUFACTURER: DESCO GENERAL DESCRIPTION: DESI PAK® is the trade name for United Desiccants-Gates' packaged clay desiccant. DESI PAK® is a low-cost, efficient desiccant which will protect the contents of a properly sealed container until it is opened. The contents of a sealed container will be in the same condition as when packaged for shipment or storage. The addition of a humidity indicator card in each DESI PAK® pail or drum allows the container to be visually inspected to insure that the desiccant remains active and the contents safe. DESI PAK® exceeds the requirements of MIL-D-3464D in actual performance and will exceed the water adsorption of Silica Gel at various humidity levels. DESI PAK® is much more economical than Silica Gel with a cost of about half that of Silica Gel. The performance characteristic of DESI PAK® is indicated on the chart below showing the amount of water adsorbed at various humidity levels. Note that the DESI PAK® performance curve exceeds both military specifications, which is the industry standard, and the Silica Gel performance curve. At 20% relative humidity DESI DESI PAK® will adsorb 46% more moisture than required by MIL-D-3464D. DESI PAK® Dusting DESI PAK® is ideal for usage where spillage or dusting are problems to be avoided. DESI PAK® is packaged in tear resistant, dust proof bags. Type I bags are general purpose. Type II bags are non dusting bags. Typical usages are electronic parts, aerospace and missile components, computer components, etc. DESI PAK® Physical Characteristics DESI PAK® is a dimensionally stable, chemically inert, aluminum silicate clay. The internal structure of this clay is a network of microscopic pores which attract and hold water through physical adsorption.
