This is a brand new, in the original factory shipping box, Ocenco M-20.2 EEBD ( Emergency Escape Breathing Device ) designed originally for marine chemical\hazardous materials emergencies and fire escape, although they are often used in many land applications as well. Land applications include chemical and industrial plants using hazardous chemicals, fire escape, chemical laboratories, and Homeland Security. This unit is known as an escape rebreather SCBA. It is of the positive pressure, closed circuit rebreather type, using a lithium hydroxide carbon dioxide scrubber cartridge. The compressed oxygen supply is about 10 minutes, and the rebreather cycle extends this by another 10 minutes, to a total of 20 minutes. The unit also has a clear total head inflating\enclosing Teflon hood for face and head heat protection as well, which also provides good visibility and protection from smoke. The rebreather unit itself is factory sealed inside a very strong waterproof and floatable clear plastic case. All original factory seals are intact, including the yellow latch with the ball bearing tamper indicator. The fluorescent orange high visibility storage case allows for easy location in an emergency. Please note that removing this unit from the orange case doesn't affect it in any way, since the factory sealed clear case unit is also designed to be belt worn ( unit includes the carrying belt ). I opened the original factory cardboard shipping box and orange storage case only for the pictures. The oxygen cylinder pressure gauge is high up in the green zone, where it should be for a new unit. My units were made in January 2011, and have an unopened service life of 15 years, so there is almost a decade of life left. The unit has NIOSH and DHHS US safety approvals, and the US NSN\National Stock Number 1HM 4240-01-508-6263. As you have already figured out, these units are used by the US Coast Guard and other military\government services, including many NATO member countries as well. Someone has also told me these units are also used by Homeland Security, so you can just imagine how useful they would be for preparedness purposes too. The unit also has safety approvals of many other countries ( you can visit the Ocenco web site to learn more about those ). This unit is sold with a 60 day return period, and a 180 day warranty, both of which run at the same time. In order to return this unit, the original factory tamper seal ( yellow latch with ball bearing indicator ) must not have been broken ( except for a warranty claim concerning failure in emergency use ). The warranty period only applies to oxygen cylinder pressure loss ( pressure gauge needle falls below the green zone ), and\or unit failure in actual use. In order to make a warranty claim, the original tamper seal must not have been broken ( except of course as previously mentioned ). Since international shipping has become very expensive, it may not be necessary to return this unit to me in the very unlikely event of a warranty claim. It is often possible to verify a problem ( for example, pressure loss ) with photographs and issue a refund remotely. Please note that I have no information available regarding convertability of this unit to SCUBA rebreather service. Since I have no information available regarding convertability of my units, such conversion is strictly at the sole and complete assumption of all risk of the Buyer. Any conversion of my unit to another service type, since it involves a radical transformation, will be a final sale only with no return and no warranty. Of course, this doesn't affect the standard warranty for the unit's original intended purpose.
