Brand New CO2 Laser Plano-Concave (negative) Lens Up for your bid is a high quality NEW ZnSe Plano-concave lens for CO2 Lasers (10.6 um). The lens is 19.1 mm (0.75") in diameter and has a focal length of -25.4mm (-1.000"). It is also coated for Er:YAG lasers at 2.94um, and for a red aiming laser. The lens is made by the one of the world-leaders in IR optics, the USA Brand II-VI Inc. It's a precision spare part built for a medical laser, and is significantly higher in quality than the majority of the lenses commonly found on eBay, which are typically made in the far-east. Negative focal length (concave) lenses are useful in a "telescope" arrangement together with a convex lens. This creates a beam expander that allows to create a wider laser beam. There are several advantages to a wider beam: first, it has a lower divergence. Second, and very important for laser CNC setups, is the fact that the wider the beam is when it hits the focusing lens, the smaller the spot at the focal point. A smaller focal spot means the power of the beam is concentrated in a smaller area, and the higher power density allows more powerful and accurate cutting / engraving action. This lens is NEW in the original FACTORY BOX and is untouched. I only opened one of these for taking the pictures. You get an unopened box.
