Being offered is this new, (still has plastic film in place that protects the reflectors mirror surface - must remove before using), main, REAR section/piece of shutter reflector assembly that will FIT both service end and/or user end shutter assemblies of older Scitex FB 500's and FB700's and the newer FB550's , FB750's and FB950's. As anyone who has worked on these machines knows; over time, the REAR main reflector of the shutter will developed stress cracks from its repetitive motion (where it is riveted in place-see pictures of typical reflector fail). These cracks will result in the reflector coming loose, rubbing on other components within the shutter assembly, and obstructing the free motion of the shutters pivoting reflector. Once this occurs, the pivoting mirror will make excessive noise and finally throw "UV shutter" or "UV Lamp Motion Error" and refuse to run. Furthermore; up until now, this piece has not been available, and when this type of error occurs you have been forced to purchase a whole new shutter assembly for around $2400.00. Recognizing the cost savings , I had several of these reflectors made, and I am keeping what need for my personal use, and selling the off the excess. Why replace the whole assembly?? Replace the mirror at 10th of the cost. That is what I do; and it works! Be proactive; and buy extras, save more by reducing "downtime"! Installation is easy! Simply remove rivets that holds the damaged mirror in place (I found that using a Dremel tool to carefully, grind the head of the rivets off and pushing the rivets out, works best. Using a drill has the potential of making the original, mating, mounting holes oversize, resulting in an undesirable, sloppy fit. You want to maintain the tight fit to minimize movement during shutter movement. Just be sure to cover circuitry and direct the flying debris away) and firmly tighten this NEW Reflector in place, using the fasteners I will provide (red thread lock is NOT SUPPLIED but is highly recommended on the two fasteners used to replace the rivets). Once the new mirror is installed, pivot the mirror to confirm free motion before installation. Also after you install the new reflector, you may need to recalibrate the shutter assembly for optimum operation. This is a simple task using the machines touch screen, that I will gladly provide instruction written procedures (with the buyers request) So even if it is not broken today; you know it is going to happen. The question is when. And how much production will you lose. Be prepared, buy it now, and save $2200 in parts and countless hours of production.
