Bright focused light properly illuminate working area with good size and on tip focused output. Light is stay some more seconds before dimming out after off foot switch. It is on with press foot swtch. Unlike recent other LED scalers, those does not have effective illumination on operation area,their poor performace due to LED light strength fade away quickly non optic quality cheap plastic light tunnel to faraway tip. Only expensive fiberoptic like NSK design could overcome that. NSK's original light bulb last very long, as example most of our 7 from 9 units still works on same bulb which came with some over 7 years. Only need occasional isoprophyl alcohol swap on fiberoptic ends. As long as keep it mind always use tips with provided torque limit tip wench and never try EMS type tip (Different screw than Satelec type) it will last long time. Also all staff make sure just alcohol sponge clean before autoclave and never put in sink with other instrument to avoid water submerge. It is autoclave-able and water resistant but any of piezo scaler handpieces not for dive on water as common sense. As experience we do not recommend buy used NSK Lux Optic handpieces because most of them has tip screw damage, shell crack, crashed optic or no piezo vibration, so you need return refund guaranty on this particular part when you decide buy second hand. Because this one is most expensive item cost $700~1000 as new. I did not had those damages on my more than two dozen handpieces during decade but looks like other people torture them extreme way. Any of those damages, it is not repairable anywhere. Most of components are separately sales on NSK America dealers. Example Acetech Dental selling new NSK Various Lux Handpiece $612 which lower than any seller include eBay. Some eBay seller put ridiculous high price for "untested" "as it is" "Part" used one and even who selling new one also to post too high asking $$$. We could order much lower price at US dealer with no shipping fee. It is good idea keep more spares cover day load. Tips compatible with Satelec/NSK/DTE Type tips. Could get as low as 1/20 of NSK original. Now a day everybody copy Ni-Ti Alloy and quality is a similar not leave metal mark on cermaic or composite. Some better than NSK's own, Better buy economic tips on eBay or your supplier like Pearson, DTE (Woodpecker's Satelec compitable brand name) is the best. This tip price you could discard some what dull tips more comfortablely than $60-100 NSK tips. When you advanture to buy non NSK tips, tip name should has "D" some where middle Like GD1, GD4T, PD4 (So tip marked G1, E2T mean EMS type not for NSK). Also it is good idea give message to seller make sure "Satelec/NSK/DTE Type". When you use other than NSK tips, you have to use generic DTE type changer which just cost few dollars. NSK tip neck is square like EMS but standard Satalec type is round with 2 face. So if you want use NSK wench to standard tips than you have to modify two surface as grind out to make round shape to fit in. That modified one still good for original NSK tips too.
