“Nu Chem Sharp” Pointing Powder Chemical Tungsten Sharpener. Description: One 4oz jar of Nu Chem Sharp Pointing Powder Chemical Tungsten Sharpener. Use to sharpen Tungsten Electrodes for GTAW, TIG, and Heliarc. Nu ChemSharp Part # NUCHEM01: NET WT 4 oz. Jar Facts: Makes a perfect point every time. Safest and most efficient of sharpening tungsten Does not contaminate Tungsten. Eliminates chipping of tungsten Electrode during sharpening. Over 400 sharpening per jar Economical No grinding is needed Chemical re-pointing extends tungsten life A safe alternative to tungsten grinding Works with pure, ceriated, thoriated, and lanthanated tungsten Tungsten Sharpener Directions Things you will need: Gloves, Eye Protection, Pliers, Heating Torch or welder, Tungsten Electrode. 1. Heat tungsten to red-hot. Using torch heat tungsten to red-hot. OR USE tig welder set on dc and electrode extended 1” past cup short electrode and apply power till electrode is red-hot. 2. Dip red-hot tungsten into Nu Chem Sharp. For best results dip red-hot tungsten into Nu ChemSharp, and leave it there for a couple seconds until a little puddle is formed.  Nu Chem Sharp becomes a molten liquid. Bob the electrode up and down in the puddle to get your desired shape. Final Notes: You'll notice right away that the chemical reaction caused by dipping the hot electrode into Nu ChemSharp causes it to be continually heated, and even increase in temperature, as long as contact is maintained. Wear safety gear and use pliers to hold tungsten it gets HOT!.
