This connects to the exhaust port of the vacuum pump (see pictures) and is used to reduce or eliminate the oil “smoke” that exits the exhaust port of the pump when it is running - a normal by-product of all oil sealed rotary vane vacuum pumps. With the use of an exhaust oil mist filter your work area will stay cleaner and the air you breath will be cleaner! This may be used on any pump with a KF-25 (NW-25) exhaust flange, or any pump adapted to a KF-25 exhaust flange, up to a capacity of 300 L/min (10 CFM). Please note: Like their Brand “A” counterpart, these filters are not intended for continuous rough pumping above the low micron range, which means single digit microns NOT inches of vacuum. They are intended for systems that pump to a hard vacuum and remain under hard vacuum. (A “hard vacuum” in the neon industry is considered the single digit micron range, which means less than 10 microns). Continuous rough pumping at higher pressures (high throughput conditions) will greatly reduce the effectiveness of the filter. These filters will NOT work with any type of single stage pump and certain two stage pumps, refrigeration / HVAC pump or any pump that is not guaranteed to produce an ultimate pressure in the single digit micron range (see above).
