I know very little about saws - like identifying what type they are, with few exceptions - but I have a pretty good feel for quality ones, and I respect especially older, American made ones. Some of the ones I am offering are antiques/collectibles, but they are also usable. I hope you appreciate the older stuff as I do. Thanks for looking, and good luck. This is an interesting older saw. It came from a time when meat processors cut the meat by hand to break it down into manageable portions for further processing. The company that made it was formed in the early 1880's in Cincinnati, OH by George H. Bishop, and after 1899 the company was located in Lawrenceburg, IN, which is where this saw was made. The frame and blade are carbon steel. The wood handle is attached to the frame with 4 screws. One screw head is missing, with the thread portion broken off into the rivet, which is still inside the handle. Handle has dings and scrapes, and a thin crack at the top screw on one side. Everything is still tight and sturdy. There is a lot of rust on this one, so it would need some cleaning and oiling before display or use. The frame is stamped at the top: "GEO. H. BISHOP & CO. / Warranted  5  Steel back  Extra Quality / Lawrenceburg, IND." At the bottom of the frame, below the handle, it is also stamped: "PATEN'D / May 30 ----." (I cannot make out the rest of the date.) Measures 27-3/4" overall, blade is 22" long, overall height is 7-1/8", handle is 7/8" thick. Contact me if you have any questions. I will combine shipping if you buy/win multiple items. If using Buy-It-Now, please put all items into Shopping Cart before checking out. Thanks very much.
