Olivetti Lettera 22 Portable Manual Typewriter (swanky Italian Design)

The item for sale is a REAL Italian-made Olivetti Lettera 22 portable manual typewriter. It is, as shown by brand marking and manufacturer tag in the photos, NOT an Olivetti-Underwood as seen everywhere on EBay. This is an excellent and very sturdy machine, very small but of heavy construction and terrific for banging out postcards or short notes, or for lugging out to the country place to make several false-starts on that novel. It had been a daily driver, and shows the typical signs of loving use and wear. There is a slight bubbling of the paint on the left-bottom, as shown in the photos, so it is not perfect. And though, again, it was a daily-use machine for me, I got boondoggled into a longish project that has prevented my habitual daily tippa-tippa exercises.  So, again as seen in the photos, it has collected a bit of surface grunge that can easily be taken care of by gentle loving hands and a Qtip with WD-40. Consider it a unique fixer-upper opportuinity, one that will seal your bond with this fabulous machine, and that will endear you to it, earn its respect for you. You'll also see in the photos some dust-bunnies gathered in the key-levers--so you discover now that it serves double-duty as a passive air filtration system in your home or rural cottage. I can send these cobwebs along with it so that you can preserve them for next Halloween's decorating, or if I get a moment I will blow the machine out with compressed air before I box it up and send it off to its new home. There's not much else to say about the machine itself--either you know what one is or you don't, and you either know what they are capable of and why they are premium machines, or you don't. Again, if you just want one to bang around on and aren't a serious person at all, there are on EBay cheaper similar machines branded Olivetti-Underwood or other Olivettis not made/branded in Italy available. Just for history of the company and context for this individual special model, this site below shows a basically identical machine (the beige one) without dust-bunnies: http://mytypewriter.com/olivettilettera22c1950.aspx I am leaving the current ribbon it it, because I have noticed most folks immediately replace them upon purchasing a new machine ($5 to $10 per ribbon, depending on whether you want basic black, red-black, or one of the new hipster ribbons in green, all-red, purple, blue, etc.). This is an excellent very solid machine that has served me very well. It is a real Olivetti, and I don't see the point in owning a half-assed Olivetti, so bid accordingly or I'll just take my ball and go home. Selling as-is, no returns. Will not ship outside the continental US. Will not ship to a PO Box. PayPal only.
