ONE DOZEN INDUSTRIAL STRENGTH MOVERS RUBBER BANDS Constructed of black heavy duty tractor trailer continuous tire inter-tubes that are cut on a 45 degree diagonal with no frictional welds. Band size of 1/2 inch width with diameter of approx. 36 inches without tension. HOW BLACK RUBBER BANDS CAME TO BE Industrial tractor trailer tire tube rubber bands were developed to to replace a problem with inferior imported mover rubber bands. The imported mover rubber bands are constructed of 1/2 inch rubber strips that are joined together with a friction weld. This weld does not consistently hold and can separate under pressure. Tractor trailer rubber inter-tubes were selected because the tubing is constructed of continuous rubber and has no welds to separate. These bands are sliced on a 45 degree diagonal cut producing an 1/2 inch width with an approx. diameter of 36 inches without any tension and no friction welds. RUBBER BAND HISTORY Initially masking tape was used for holding moving and warehouse pads on furniture during the household move and warehouse storage. The tape adhesive tended to bond to the pad on warm days and separating the tape from the pad tore the pad cloth. Rubber bands do not bond with the pad cloth and provide more holding power than tape. Bands were also found to offer better holding power for bulky items during commercial shipping and storage than twine. Combining with S hooks, tension ties were created and were found to provide excellent securing for palletized shipments.
