This appears to be an original copper plate engraving from 1822 entitled OPTICS (Plate 8). "Published as the Act Directs, June 1st 1822, by J Mawman, Ludgate St. Engraved by Wilson Lowry". The framed plate is 8"x11", and is on thick stock that I assume is created by the Chine-colle process. The frame is 13"x16". Appears to show different reflecting lenses, possibly parts of a telescope or microscope. Unknown what book it is from, but I've found a similar Astronomy engraving at the British Museum here: research.britishmuseum.org/research/collection_online/collection_object_details.aspx?objectId=3411345&page=1&partId=1&searchText=Astronomy In excellent condition and would look great in a scientist or engineer's home or office.
Excellent, framed.
