TheORTEC 473A Constant-Fraction Discriminator shows excellent time resolution from all commonly used detectors such as high-purity germanium (HPGe), surface barrier, fast plastic NaI(Tl), and photomultiplier tubes. This unit accepts input pulses in the range of 0 to -5 V and generates NIM fast negative outputs and a slow positive output that are based on the constant-fraction time derivation technique.  The 473A operates as an integral discriminator and provides excellent timing characteristics for a wide dynamic range of input signal amplitudes.  Three timing modes are provided: constant fraction (CF), constant fraction with slow rise time reject (SRT), and leading edge (LE). The Input impedance of the 473A is 50 ohms, and the fast logic output are designed for termination in 50 ohms. A NIM slow positive logic output is also furnished with a nominal +5 V pulse amplitude, 500 ns pulse width, and a rise time of 2.5 ns or less.  The output impedance is 10 ohms or less.
