Pair of Civil War Solid Steel Balls 2 1/2 Lb. each they are solid steel, Steel was not used in Cannon Balls I brought these at a Civil War Collector Estate Sale, I do not know much about them, They have been polish, Said he has had them for many years. New information on Steel Balls. US Militaria Forum Solid Steel Balls were used in Steel Mills to crush Coke. They had Large Rotating Drums that had holes that were smaller than the balls and as the drum rotated the balls, would crush the Coke and it would fall through the holes onto belts that took it to the Furance. These Balls are usually about 3 inches diameter, They vary in sizes.
