The PAXStarter DIP28 USB Project Development Board contains everything you need to run a PIC18F24K50 with USB capabilities and more. This board is great for beginners to experts. Microcontrollers often form the core of electronics projects, and this dev board is designed to provide all the connections you need to do just that! And it is designed, made, and shipped quickly from the United States! This package includes a PAXStarter DIP28/USB project development board with a new Microchip PIC18F24K50 microcontroller already mounted. The board includes a dual power selection circuit (USB or barrel jack power input/optional 2 pin power input header), a 12mhz crystal, ICSP header, power output for your breadboard, and more. This board also now comes with a 6 foot USB cable to easily connect this board to your computer! This is the easy way to start your PIC development projects. The board plugs right into a programmer/debugger, saving development/testing time and serving as a programmer adapter board for 28 pin PICs. It has everything you need to run your PIC project so you can start coding faster. And I can even preload it with a USB boot loader upon request! You can download source code and get support for as long as you own your board from our support forum. PIC18F24K50 IC (Already Mounted) Dual Power Selection Circuit (Prefers Barrel Jack over USB) Microchip's HID Bootloader Software Preloaded on the Chip In-Circuit Serial Programmer - ICSP Header (ICD Style) - For programming/debugging. Program Button (Hold Down and Press Reset for HID Bootloader Mode) Reset Button Bypass Capacitors on Power Input, Regulator, and Output. LED Power Indicator 12Mhz Crystal Oscillator (Up to 48Mhz w/ 4x PLL) 2.1mm Barrel Jack Power Input +5V/Gnd Power Output Header (For Breadboard/Other Devices) 28 Pin DIP IC Socket Markings for Pins Grouped by Port Grounded Mounting Holes 6 Foot Type A Male to Mini USB Cable Power Selection Circuit: Apply +7v to +18v Power Input Through Power Input Header or 2.1mm Barrel Jack Or, connect the USB to your computer or a power source. If you plug in both, the circuit will draw power through self power instead of USB due to power limits on the USB bus. On Board Linear Power Regulator: Can handle up to 500ma Current. If you use a barrel jack, you can draw the input voltage from the power input header pins, allowing you to chain an additional development board. Note: At higher power/voltage levels, the power regulator can get hot. Be careful when handling! Note 2: Make sure your wall wart can handle the current you're planning to use. The label should specify current and voltage levels. Programming: The 6-Pin ICSP Header, including PGM pin, can connect to an ICD style header. To activate the bootloader, hold down the program button and press reset. The USB will connect to your computer at that point. Note: Do not apply power through the ICSP header. Set your ICD to self power. Otherwise power could go into the wrong side of the linear regulator. Misc: The 4 mounting holes are connected to the ground plane The IC socket requires a chip puller to safely remove the IC.
