To assure these seals meet our high standards, these seals are made in the United States: The plastic resin is manufactured in the United States; machine forming of the wire hasp, injection molding, assembly and even the heat embossing / paint transfer are all done in the United States where quality control can be assured. DESCRIPTION OF A KEY TAG SEAL: Each key tag seal is a "one use" seal which snaps (locks) into place and is non-removable without leaving a clear indication of tampering. NO SPECIAL TOOL is required to attach these key tags - simply insert the wire hasp through the key's hole, insert the loose end of the hasp into the seal body, and compress by hand. All done! In addition, you can secure your key(s) to a stationary object (steel cable, small pipe, fencing, padlock, key box, lock hasp, etc.) allowing a key to be available for emergency use, but firmly secured and sealed in place. Allow children, a neighbor, a friend or the babysitter emergency access to your storage shed, garage, barn, self-storage unit - - - by using a key tag seal to anchor a key to a fixed object (knowing that any use will be immediately noticed and easily detected). In some circumstances, you may wish to secure the key to the lock (such as a padlock or padlock hasp) where the key can't be inserted into the lock, but is readily available in an emergency (such as chained gate valves for fire suppression systems, access to gas meter enclosures, elevator door access for fire departments, etc.). Of course, these key tag seals also double as padlock security seals and can be used to seal liquor cabinets, storage units, cargo shipments, lock hasps, meters, electrical boxes, security equipment, key boxes, etc. These key tag seals are NON-SCORED meaning the seal must be cut off, (they are very difficult to remove without using wire cutters - - although they can be broken off by forcefully bending the wire shackle back and forth repeatedly). The front of each key tag seal reads: " KEY TAG NO:" and includes a unique EIGHT-DIGIT SERIAL NUMBER. The back of each seal reads: "KEY TAG FOR:" and includes a small white WRITE-ON AREA where you can write in additional information (such as the date, the unit number, what the key opens, etc.). ALL THE RIGHT FEATURES FOR SECURE KEY CONTROL: Eight-digit serial number; white "write on" area; must be cut off or forcefully removed; large shackle permits attaching more than one key (and/or anchoring keys to other objects); small diameter steel wire (allows the shackle to easily pass through even small key holes); bright color (so key tags can be easily spotted if misplaced, dropped on the floor, left dangling from a lock, etc.). DIMENSIONS: Each seal measures approximately: Length of plastic body is 1.50"; width is 0.75; overall thickness is 0.17". The "shackle opening" measures approximately 1.5 tall (prior to compressing / locking) by 0.83" at its widest point. 50 seals weigh 6.2 ounces (175 grams) making these seals both rugged and light-weight. UNUSUAL FEATURES / NOTES: Each seal is different - as it has its own unique eight-digit serial number heat embossed (and painted) into its side. Each seal's wire shackle is corrosion-resistant galvanized wire. These particular seals are made from injection-molded Polyethylene. Each seal has a breaking strength of approximately 100-pounds due to it's heavy wire shackle. Hundreds of smaller companies need key tag seals, but in small or limited quantities. Keys in your key box (that have tags identifying what those keys open) can become a liability problem - especially if you're a property management company, security / guard company, hotel / motel, real estate company, fire / police department, vending machine company, automotive dealership, transportation company, vehicle fleet leasing company, automotive service station, etc. Security experts agree, in addition to secreting keys in a secure location, the keys themselves should not include any information as to what they go to / unlock. If someone steals a key box (or a group of keys), the last thing you want them to know is which locks those keys will open. Keys should only be identified with a number and a separate list maintained elsewhere. The key list should not kept with the keys (this is a standard practice at larger automotive dealerships, real estate and property management companies, hotels / motels). Key tags should be secured to the keys and non-removable. This prevents individuals who have access to the keys (employees, contractors, visitors, residents, etc.), from removing a key and substituting a different key prior to returning the keys to you.
