Photo-Multiplier Tube and Scintillation Detector Crystal BGO. For sale    Photo Multiplier Tube Hamamatsu R-647.   On the top of tube  installed (and pre-oriented to the optic axis) is a scintillation crystal (BGO). Each crystal is sized at 20x10x5 mm, which is 1cubic cm. The crystal and Photo-Multiplier tube is a perfect base for building highly sensitive gamma-ray and X-ray radiation detectors. When gamma-rays pass through the crystal it scintillates, then a Photo-Multiplier Tube is used to amplify the burst of light into a pulse, which in turn means that an easy conversion can occur into digital or analogue meters detecting the radiation. As a bonus, we will send to you absolutely free an original socket for the PMT tube, being a very important part of the set.
