The assembly has been tested fully working condition. The core of the assembly is a Physik Instrument (PI) piezoelectric stack actuator mechanically framed together with a motion amplifier such that the small deformation in the stack actuator is transformed to large vertical motion in Z-direction. I have tested the motion in z-direction using a Michelson Interferometer setup, with ~only 200mv, observed a full fringe shift for a He-Ne laser (~0.63u wavelength). The actuator allows -30V to 130V voltage actuation, meaning that the overall stroke in Z-direction would be up to 400um. Also the control resolution of the motion from PI's specification sheet is about ~2nm. The assembly perfect for teaching the concept of piezoelectric stack actuator, principle of motion amplifier, and will be useful in optical lab as well.
