Removing the pre-emergent horn (debudding) is the most humane and efficient way to eliminate horn tissue in cows and goats. The totally portable Dehorner II makes it possible to dehorn and debud anywhere, in the field, in the pen, in the barn. Designed for farmers and veterinary surgeons, it is the ideal tool for dehorning herds of young calves 3–8 weeks old. Lighting first time every time even in windy conditions or high altitudes, it is the most powerful Portasol to date with 225 watts of heat. Taking only 4 minutes to heat up it can be used continuously for 45 minutes at mid temperature setting with one butane fill (25 minutes at maximum temperature; remember it takes one minute to recharge1). Working temperature is adjustable up to 600?C, 1100?F. This dehorner features self-ignition at the flick of a switch. It is important to follow instructions for the ignition sequence; failing to do so will decrease the longevity and performance of the tool. The Portasol Dehorner II is well designed with a stainless steel body which can withstand many years of use. It also features a comfortable grip and a hand guard stand to keep the hot tip from touching other surfaces. The Dehorner II comes with a 15mm tip in a heavy plastic storage case with instructions.
