At auction is this vintage Pitney Bowes postal scale.  This is the Balance Beam model 4900 and has a weight capacity of 16 ounces.  Scale works as designed and is accurate.  Length of the base is about 10 inches with the width at about 4 1/2 inches at the widest point.  The cylinder in front (shown on photos 3 thru 6) contains the postage rates effective January 1995.  This is just a paper sticker/label that was affixed as the postage rates changed, but the scale itself dates to much earlier than that--I'm guessing 1950s or even earlier than that.  This item is in excellent, vintage condition.
