PowerStat 3PN116B 10A Variac Variable Transformer This is a PowerStat 3PN116B variable transformer, manufactured by the Superior Electric company of Bristol, CT. The PowerStat provides a simple, rugged method of controlling electrical AC voltage for repair technicians and design engineers. It takes in 120 volts AC and provides continuously adjustable output voltage, from zero volts to 140 volts AC. It provides excellent load regulation with negligible variation in output voltage from no-load to full-load current. Has fused (10A) three-prong receptacle output. The output is rated at 10 amps, 1.4 kVA. Note: variacs do not provide isolation. Always use a separate isolation transformer when isolation is required. If you're buying vintage tube amps, tubed radios or test equipment, you need a way to bring them up to working voltage slowly after being in storage, to prevent damage. In that case, you need a variac as much as you need a good digital volt meter. This unit is in excellent working condition and is very clean. "Componet Lab" is scratched into the top cover (see photos).Buyer pays actual shipping. Shipping weight is 14 pounds.
