missing the little valve on the top! THE FOLLOWING IS COPIED AND PASTED FROM protekspecialty.com/primer/manifold-primer.html THE MANIFOLD PRIMER combines all the time-tested advantages of using an engine manifold vacuum to evacuate air from suction lines, with the latest engineering design and materials. The internal parts are enclosed in a fully transparent dome, made of heat and shock resistant polycarbonate plastic, so that the operator can observe their functioning. * The primer can be used on vehicles that operate on gasoline or LP gas engines only. MANIFOLD PRIMER FEATURES The primer can be used on a variety of multiple cylinder engines operating on gasoline or LPG. The lightweight plastic float with suction cup provides instant and positive closure when priming is complete. The check valve prevents a reverse flow during normal pump operation when manually closed. The MP1000 is equipped with a push button to re-open the float valve any time it closes prematurely. A cut-off valve is furnished with the primer. The complete operation instructions are permanently attached to the primer and detailed installation and maintenance instructions are supplied with each unit. SPECIAL FEATURES: Makes for fast, efficient priming using engine manifold vacuum while engine runs at low speed. Easy to operate - simply start engine and open one valve to begin priming. The primer can be used on a variety of multiple cylinder engines operating on gasoline or LPG. The lightweight Nitrophyl float provides instant and positive closures when priming is completed. The unit has fewer parts that would need replacing. Its new design allows it to perform with added efficiency The light weight clear dome is extremely durable and long lasting. The unit offers 18 - 22 inches of vacuum. It has a durable aluminum base which can be mounted on any surface. INSTALLATION Primer may be installed under the vehicle's hood or a place of your choice outside the vehicle. Determine placement of the primer and prepare the area for installation. Once the area of the primer placement has been determined, raise the hood and remove the hose that is connected to the brake booster (booster end only) and splice the hose about 12" inches from the booster end of the hose. Reconnect the two pieces with a hose tee. Connect another piece of hose to the tee with a length of hose that will reach the area of the primer installation. Connect the end of the hose to the primer port that says "OUT" and clamp all hose ends at the booster and primer. Next, take a hose that will reach from the primer to the pump priming port. Take one end of the hose and connect it to the primer port that says "IN." Connect the other end of the hose to the pump suction line priming port. *NOTE: When not in use, turn the primer off with the ball valve provided.TO OPERATE THE PRIMER With the ball valve on the priming line in the closed position, connect the hose from the primer to the priming port of your pump suction line. Close your pump discharge valve to prevent air from entering from that side. Start your vehicle. Slowly turn the ball valve on the priming line on and watch for water entering the primer once water is present. Turn your pump on and open the discharge valve. Water should flow from your pump's discharge line.If water does not flow from the discharge, close the priming valve, turn your pump off and return to step 2. If water flows, close the primer ball valve, disconnect the primer line at the primer and turn your vehicle engine off. MAINTENANCE: The chamber housing should be kept clean so that the operation of the float valve can be observed. Clean the plastic parts with soap and water rather than gasoline or other harsh cleaning fluids. When reassembling the primer, do not tighten the globe more than necessary to seal the gasket. CAUTION In order for your vehicle's other systems to not be affected by the primer, the primer must be turned "OFF" before driving your vehicle. To do this simply turn the valve handle (located at the top of the MP1000) to the "OFF" position and resume normal use of your vehicle
