It is a member of the ProVision 618 family. As opposed to other fiberoptic inspection devices, this unit has an integral power supply and light source built into the handle. Uses inexpensive and readily available AA batteries. Unit is shipped by manufacturer without batteries. As a courtesy, we will insert fresh AA batteries and test unit for proper function prior to shipment. Rest assured, you will receive a first quality, tested, and fully functioning unit. These were made in Costa Rica. As opposed to the cheap import items coming from East Asia, these are manufactured with top quality, industrial grade, Dow Corning fiberoptic cable. How Does ProVision Work? The remarkable ProVision flexible fiberoptic scope is made possible by the use of thousands of tightly packed fibers aligned coherently – both ends are positioned exactly the same relative to each other. This coherent bundle of fibers transfers high quality images from a fixed object to a focusable eyepiece assembly. When activated, light from a source in the handle travels via a continuous light guide down the cable to the tip of the scope to illuminate the viewing area. Although the cable is filled with fibers, it can be bent repeatedly to a radius of 8 inches without damage.
