That's 3 for 1 HOW TO USE EXPEDIENT DOT RADIATION MONITORS 1.  Peel and stick dot to an ID card or driver's license.  Something you are likely to always have with you.   2.  By having the dot on you it indicates the total amount of radiation your body has accumulated. 3.  If the dot is yellow and black you are safe. 4.  If the dot turns green and black you need to seek shelter in a basement or behind thick walls.  Green means you have been exposed to a high level of radiation but there is no threat to your health. 5.  If the dot turns light gray and black you have likely got the maximum dose your body can stand without getting sick. 6.  If the entire dot is black then you have likely received an amount of radiation that is fatal without medical attention. GENERAL DOT INFO  Dot monitors are expedient.  That means they are not proper radiation monitors or a substitute for a proper device.  Dot monitors are only for nuclear bomb detonations, not dirty bomb, not nuke plant accidents or HAZMAT etc.  The dot monitor should not be your only source of detecting dangerous levels of radiation.  Make a home made Kearny Fallout Meter if you have no other rad monitor.  Instructions are free on the internet including how-to videos.  The dot will last about five years in your wallet  but will turn green and black over time due to recording natural background radiation and going through x-ray machines at airports and government buildings.  Turning green over a period of years is not dangerous.  Only an acute dose is dangerous.   A dose that is fatal in a few days would be relatively harmless over a period of years.   The dot turns color almost instantly in radiation. Keep out of direct sunlight and heat.  Leaving dot in the sun on the dashboard of a car will give a false reading and destroy the dot.  A dot stored in your freezer will stay fresh and new for at least ten years.  Dot can be user tested with radioactive foil from a cheap smoke detector..  White translucent sensor must be removed from under yellow film on dot and placed directly on radioactive foil.  Dot sensor will turn blue in about 15 minutes and black overnight.  This is not a full body dose.  Radiation from a smoke detector does not travel much more than half an inch.  This test will destroy your dot and the smoke detector.   For more information about nuclear Civil Defense go to http://www.physiciansforcivildefense.org   Listen to audio instructions.  It is best to read and hear these instructions.
