Rare! ANTIQUE General Electric RECORDING VOLTMETER Type CF-1 Complete Works+PAPER ROLL   ~Instrument is made to measure and record fluctuations of electric current from 0 to 280 volts.  It is powered by electric current and made to be portable or easily moved and transported.  Most likely, it has commercial/industrial applications. ~It was certainly an expensive technical instrument to buy in its day.  Quite complicated, specialised, and intricate.   ~Unusual design of unit is from the 1930's.  The "crinkle" paint finish is from that time.  And its wonderful decoration features are straight out of an Art Deco design book!  It may be from a later decade, possibly the 1940's, but I'm not sure.  There is another very similar model, the MODEL CF-2, which came some time later. ~Metal alloy case is quite thick and stalwart.  It is 10-1/4 inches tall and 9 inches wide, including hinges and other exterior additions.  Total depth, not including screw-locks, is 5-1/4 inches. ~nside plaque says, "GENERAL ELECTRIC    RECORDING VOLTMETER    TYPE CF-1".  Also included are "SERIAL NUMBER: 43-11476;  VOLTS: 280 / 560;  MODEL: 8CF1VBH2;  RECORD ROLL: V2A7 - 1;  Telechron MOTOR VOLTS: 240 / 480;  CYCLES: 60."  Also has ID and address: N. P. 78659;  WEST LYNN, MASS.;  MADE IN U. S. A." ~Another plaque inside says in part, "INSTRUMENT AND Telechron MOTORS CONNECTED PERMANENTLY IN MULTIPLE."  Other details and diagrams are on the plaque, along with statement to "READ INSTRUCTIONS GEH-1080."   ~Also inside are some rather complex electronic and electric machinery and instruments.  Also a large roll of graphed paper on which current fluctuations are recorded by the instrument.   ~At the very top is a plaque that states, "A-C   VOLTS    GENERAL ELECTRIC    MADE IN U. S. A.", as a title.  Meter just below registers and measures electric power from 0 to 280 volts.  Below this is a moving roll of quantified graph paper that serves to accurately measure any changes in electrical current simultaneously as they happen.   ~Glass window in door allows paper measurements to be read.  Two large bolts with large knurled knobs screw the door down tightly and securely.   ~There are 5 tough rubber feet underneath. ~Thick leather strap on top helps to carry, move, and transport the instrument. ~On the back is a strong, secure hole built in for easily and quickly hanging the unit.
