Becoming one of Underwood's most popular portables was easy for this vintage Universal/Champion Typemaster Typewriter. It incorporated many of the most desirable features of its day into an affordable machine. Closed in the case, this Portable Typewriter measures 13" wide, 12" deep, and 8" high. But once the lid is lifted, it can expand into its own workstation. Three cadmium-plated legs open out "in 30 seconds" to form a sturdy level stand which can be adjusted to 3 different heights. The bottom of the typewriter case lifts up to form a desk for holding papers. Fully extended, this rare piece measures 26 1/4" in length and has a maximum height of 25 1/4". Circa 1930's, this Underwood Universal Typewriter is in good condition with minimal wear. The case is clean with nice chrome latches. Although it needs a good cleaning and new ribbon, the Typewriter has working keys and bell. The handle bears the Underwood name and there is an original Underwood Corporation label on the back of the machine. This is a fabulous one-of-a kind addition to any vintage typewriter collection!
